I'm looking through you, where did I go; I thought I knew you, what did I know? You don't look different but you have changed I'm looking through you, you're not the same.
Not much of what I would call New News. I keep trying. Keep surfing the waves of inspiration when opportunity permits itself. Does it help? It doesn't hurt. I am watching 'Letterman' for the same reason that everyone watches Letterman, not because its funny but because it isn't drepressing and when you are somewhere between being active and going to sleep its good for the mind not to be disturbed any further.
I watched the Hitler movie on television. Tonight was the finale. It was surprisingly fast for the material that it covered. Especially, considering that Mein Kumpf and The Biography of Hitler were around eighthundred pages. I wanted this movie to be made though I had creative designs on a Motion Picture Musical; Something like Evita but more in the David Lynch like style of the three dimensional message. I understand that in order for that to happen the world has to hunger for it. I hope this show stimulates the apetite some what.
What's my fascination. Long story, I suppose my insistance on making a movie about it is because of the misrepresentation of the times that the public school system and the media play in referencing it. Everyone says oh like Hitler or Oh another Hitler..never expounding on the point or insuring that the point is being communicated.
I think its relevant. 50 million people died during WWII in Europe, of which, 6 million were jews. Everyone would have it be believed to be a personal war against the Jews, everyone would prefer it be about anything but the truth. The truth about communication, the truth about human nature, the truth about men, women, religion, government, economics, military, democracy, business..
I like the truth more and more because it is the hardest resource to come by. I don't mind being privy to a conversation that I don't understand as long as it is possible for me to make the effort to understand and actually obtain it. I get annoyed when people reference things just to sound smart because they want a reaction from you rather than because they have something intelligent or insightful to really say.
In Hedwig there is a line that says 'Jesus died for our sins.' and the reply was ' so did Hitler'. I cannot explain the joy that came over me when I heard that. I am willing to wager that 90% of the people that heard that or that would hear it even now would completely understand the significance or truth of that line.
No one talks about Hitler having been Jewish or an Artist..these things really got cleared up in the movie. If you are going to discuss an historical person or event, discuss everything, how it happened, why it happened, what it meant, what it changed, and who made it all possible. Then it is ok to make reference to times or people. Just to say Hitler was evil and so and so is like Hitler is such exploitation and propaganda that makes a mess. Its wrong to manipulate people who do not understand you. It should not even need to be said yet if you don't say it it keeps happening..
After the show the news came on. Something about will a Hitler take over Iraq. Two months ago, Hussein was Hitler. Do you even know what that means? Of course not, because I know what it means and I know that you don't know what you are saying but you are saying it to see what the reaction will be. Having got no reaction there is a pause a blush and then the cut to something else. So real.
Anyway, I was happy about the difference. Its a first step in legitimizing America's media and information offering ever in the history of it where the truth was more important than the reaction. I hope it is contagious.
I had another one of those back to earth days. It was both exhausting and exhilarating. I feel like a writer more and more these days and I am liking it. I am liking that I am meeting more people like me who are just trying to release their inner writer and live a normal life without getting trampled in the process. When it starts to happen it is so amazing. I think about this regarding blogging. I think if blogging has done one good deed it is giving people a forum to write and publish there writing without interference or intervention.
Blogging may just change the world.
